Spring into a March Makeover !

I am so happy its March. February feels, ironically, like the longest dreariest month of the year as opposed to the shortest. I struggle to get through some of these wetcoast grey days. I have heard this from so many people so I know I am not alone! So what makes me feel better? Spring sunshine...ok can't control that but can so look forward to it. Exercise...yes can totally control that! Some reward for surviving winter, immediate and budget friendly...A new look in my home....YES! One room, small changes ...huge difference. ReFreshed in a day.

Havens For Healing ReDesign Program

My name is Tracey Jones of ReMarkable ReDesign & Home Staging Inc. I am a certified redesigner and home stager and a member of the Canadian Redesigners Association (CRDA).
The CRDA has designated October as "Get Redesigned Month" and we are launching the campaign in conjunction with our annual national conference which will be held in Toronto on October 17-19, 2008.
The CRDA and ReMarkable ReDesign support the program “Havens for Healing” and Ovarian Cancer Canada (OCC) nationally, and we are hopeful that there is a way we can assist a woman or maybe several women living with ovarian cancer in Greater Victoria.
With the intent of helping a woman in need, I would like to donate a free "Redesign" for someone who may benefit from such a service. If you are aware of a woman in Greater Victoria who has been diagnosed with ovarian cancer and perhaps would enjoy having her living environment "refreshed" I would love to be able to help.
We, as an association believe this is a good way to bring awareness to OCC and the symptoms of ovarian cancer, as well as help deserving families.

Selling in a soft market READ: CURB APPEAL

Honestly now; trying to attract attention to your home when selling in a "soft" or "challenging" real estate market is not an easy task. But, there are things to do to help get potential buyers to pay attention to your home even when times are tough and the market is saturated with hundreds of listings. Buyers approach the front door and wait for their agents to arrive and then wait to get the lock box open. What a great opportunity for you, the home seller to showcase the advantages of your property...make them want to see more! There are many things that can be done quickly and inexpensively to get more buyers inside and looking at your home; utlimately getting you an offer.
Take a look at your front enterance, is it inviting and warm and up to date? It is critical to make a great impression on potential buyers at this point. What buyers see as they look at the front of your home can be the difference in a sale or not. Pull them in. Show you care. Curb appeal is not just a catch phrase...it is a real "thing". Buyers usually make up their mind whether the home stays on their list or not in the first minutes of viewing.
Carefully inspect the exterior of your home, especially the front entrance and front door. If the front door is old and dirty, wash it down. If the paint is looking sad and worn, paint it! Paint, clean or replace the hardware including the house numbers.Buy a new door mat and place a beautiful planter with seasonal flowers or greenery nearby that says "welcome". Windows should be cleaned. Repaint the trim and facia.
Look at the yard...take some time to finish the fall or spring cleanup...clear out beds so things look neat and tidy.Prune any overgrown shrubs or trees.The lawn should be mowed and healthy looking. Powerwash the walkways and driveway.
Much of this should be done before you sign on with an agent. They will be able to better determine the market value of your property in prime condition. A certified home stager can help with these tasks and give you a plan for staging the rest of the home for sale. It is well worth the investment . Staging and creating curb appeal always costs less than the first price reduction on the listing. Staging will help differentiate your home from the rest on the web, in photos and in person.

Slow market, lots to look at. Make your home the one they see and remember first.
